19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
