'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the thrilling closing stages of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess promptly hammered in the deflection before sprinting toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with supporters mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an extraordinary recovery given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. In the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result booked a next round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for having a go from that far out," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after they changed shape. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he departed Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been quite the ride for the youngster from the local area in his hometown, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to the weather of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he recalls, chuckling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I knew I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I felt I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with a teammate, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on London's Central line after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
