Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the group reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
